Mackenzie Holden

Mackenzie began her Arakan journey in 2018 searching for effective self defence techniques, especially for someone who is petite and living alone in Sydney.

Mackenzie is a fun loving lady and enjoys training hard. She demonstrates that you don’t need size or strength to overcome an opponent physically bigger or stronger than you. Through body mechanics and technique, she demonstrates how fast and effective Arakan can be.

Mackenzie is 1 of 6 female Instructors and loves sharing her passion with others. Prior to teaching Arakan, Mackenzie spent much of her life doing dance, and has a great understanding of the body and its dynamics. She brings this knowledge and understanding to her training and teaches her students how to utilise correct body mechanics and technique to gain power and adaptability, combined with fast and effective self defence techniques.

Mackenzie feels that Arakan has positively impacted her life by boosting her confidence, giving her greater discipline and focus, and taking her fitness to another level. She loves watching her students grow in their confidence and power, both mentally and physically, in a relatively short period of time. She has also made newfound friendships forged through Arakan that are positive and uplifting.

Mackenzie is grateful to have made teaching Arakan her career and her greatest Arakan achievement to date is grading her Yellow Belt and becoming an Instructor, sharing her passion with her students. Outside of training and teaching, she enjoys going to the movies, the beach, hiking and spending time with family and friends.

I was delighted to be part of Mackenzie’s Arakan instructor training. From the start I felt very comfortable being with her. She is very friendly and professional. Her enthusiasm and love of Arakan are infectious. Don’t be fooled by her size - she certainly knows how to get the most out of you. At the end of each lesson I felt challenged, both physically and mentally, coming away from each lesson sweating, red-faced, but with a beaming smile. On my last lesson, through no fault of her own she was five minutes late. I thought nothing of it, however Mackenzie was horrified at having kept me waiting and insisted on giving me an extra free lesson - thus confirming to me her serious commitment to her new Arakan career!

I‘m very grateful for the opportunity given to me to learn martial arts from Mackenzie; an understanding and supportive instructor. Mackenzie was knowledgeable and she showed up to the lessons on time every time. I’d be happy to recommend her to anyone searching for a reliable and thorough instructor.

Mackenzie is a supportive and encouraging instructor, who is dedicated to teach and inspire the art of arakan. She helps you with improvement but also motivates you to be the best you can be. She is a very fun and uplifting instructor who goes out of her way to make sure you can defend, strike and protect yourself in any situation. She is very qualified to teach arakan and is one of the most outstanding instructors I know.

Mackenzie is super inspiring, her enthusiasm for Arakan is so contagious. She puts 110% into everything she does and this attitude really lifts you as a student to rise to the challenge and do the same. In the short time we trained together she pushed me to the limit of what I thought I could do, both physically and mentally, and her guidance and encouragement helped me move past that limit and achieve some amazing goals.

I have been training with Mackenzie for 8 months and she is an extremely enthusiastic and inspiring instructor. She puts immense effort into teaching me while putting entertainment and amusement into the lesson. I recommend her to anyone that is looking for a dedicated, accommodating instructor that gets the best out of you every lesson!

My 6 year old has only been training a short amount of time with Mackenzie but has already made lots of visible progress such as increased focus,  confidence and general fitness. She gets the most out of him every lesson, while making it fun and engaging for him as well as supporting and motivating him. He always looks forward to his training with her. I would highly recommend Mackenzie as an instructor.

If you want something that is real world, out of the 'community hall' classroom and relevant, Arakan is the best investment you can make for your teen! I have seen my son's confidence, self awareness and ability grown with every session. I now know he is safe on the train and any building site where he works.
